“I don’t know… if you can see… the changes that have come over me.”

Limerick fans have certainly undergone a transformative change after the Liam MacCarthy Cup was brought back to the Treaty County for the first time in 45 years.

Monday saw roughly 100,000 fans gather in Limerick City for the homecoming party, which features spectacular moments of celebration, such as this one, involving Cian Lynch and a bottle of Buckfast.

The lads also proved their musical chops by getting extremely busy to classic Irish tune Maniac 2000.

Now, legendary sports broadcaster Marty Morrissey has shared some footage he filmed from the side of the stage, featuring Limerick captain Declan Hannon leading his teammates, as well as tens of thousands of fans, in a belting rendition of ‘Caledonia,’ a song made very popular by Dolores Keane.

Marty shared the video with the caption: “Thank you Limerick for one of the Most Memorable Nights Ever. This is what Hurling means to the people. Liam Mc Carthy is back after 45 years and the All Ireland winning Captain sings his heart out!”

But we shouldn’t be at all surprised. Hannon has form for this kind of performance. He also gave it a lash on the bus back home after Limerick’s spectacular win on Sunday.
