PIC: Woman in US named Petra Fyde gets bombarded with Will Grigg messages on Facebook

Conor Heneghan

Let’s hope she hasn’t a brother or sister named Terra.

Despite not playing a single minute in the tournament so far, Northern Ireland’s Will Griggs has been one of the major talking points of Euro 2016.

The song in his name, ‘Will Grigg’s on fire’ has become nothing short of a sensation, so much so that it has been adopted by supporters of pretty much every English-speaking team in the competition.

Just look at the reaction when Irish fans started singing ‘Shane Long’s on fire‘ in a nightclub in Bordeaux on Saturday night.

So popular has the song become, in fact, that a woman in the US took to Facebook earlier this week to express bafflement about why her inbox has become inundated with messages about the song.

As you can see below, the clue is in the name…

Strictly speaking, we think the line is ‘Will Grigg’s on fire, your defence is terrified’ but we can see what they’re getting at.

Obviously there’s no sign of it getting old just yet.

Cheers to Daithi O’Laoghaire for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
