PICS: Irish man has an excellent forfeit after finishing last in his fantasy football

Alan Loughnane

He’s using it as an excuse to raise money for a good cause…

Anyone who plays it will know that fantasy football not just a game, it’s far more than that to many of the people who play it.

A lot of gamers were waiting on the result of the delayed game between Bournemouth and Manchester United  to find out their final standing on the table as many punters had invested in David De Gea, Chris Smalling and Anthony Martial.

When United scored that last minute own goal through Chris Smalling, it took away the Red Devils clean sheet which deducted points away from De Gea and Smalling, while the English defender had the double whammy of scoring the OG as well.

Needless to say, it shook up some of the final standings in leagues across the country and across the UK as well.

It affected some more than others though, in particular Bernard Nolan, who finished bottom of his league.

We’ll let his friends tell the story of how his forfeit involves a trip to England, a jazzy t-shirt and raising money for the Irish Cancer Society.

The Back Story

We are a group of 10 friends working together in Dublin. From August to May, 90% of our conversations are spent discussing our Fantasy Football League. That’s because at the end of the year, we make the overall loser of the league complete a forfeit.

As always the forfeit is publicly embarrassing for the loser, and this year we decided to use that public attention not just to shame our friend who lost, but also to do some good in the process. We are taking this opportunity to raise some money for a great cause that deserves the help.

The Forfeit:

We are embarrassing our friend Bernard by sending him around the UK (fly into east midlands, find his way to Birmingham, then home from there). Bernard will travel alone, all day, in a Pink “My Little Pony” Jumper and a leopard-print skirt.

Throughout the day, Bernard must complete annoying tasks that we have assigned and take pictures to prove he has done them. He will be doing all of this while the rest of us are in the pub, enjoying our end of season party – needless to say, the rest of us are all very glad we didn’t lose.

Fair play to Bernard, he’s taking it very well and hopefully you can support him in raising some money for a great cause.

We would really appreciate anything you can give.

So if you’d like donate some money to this cause, you can do so here.

Cheers to Yasmin Monks for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102, [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
