Just over 24 hours from the big kick off in Sochi and some of the visiting media are not too impressed with what they found on arrival.
Despite the massive amount of cash spent on this year’s Winter Olympics in Russia ($50billion or €37billion) it seems all is not quite ready in Sochi.
Reporters from around the world started to arrive this week and they have started to tweet about what they found. And it isn’t good.
Only six of the nine media hotels are ready while construction work is still ongoing.
Some of the issues are cosmetic:
This is the one hotel room @Sochi2014 have given us so far. Shambles. #cnnsochi pic.twitter.com/RTjEkmyan3

Others are more serious:
My hotel has no water. If restored, the front desk says, “do not use on your face because it contains something very dangerous.” #Sochi2014

Water restored, sorta. On the bright side, I now know what very dangerous face water looks like. #Sochi #unfiltered pic.twitter.com/sQWM0vYtyz

Others complained about lifts not working and rooms that were booked not being available. Hopefully these are just little wrinkles that can be ironed out.
