TWEETS: Austin Gleeson was adored by every hurling fan despite Waterford's heartbreaking loss
The Mount Sion hurler is a superstar.
Every once in a while, an athlete comes along who just seems like they're born to perform and excel in their chosen sport. Austin Gleeson is that athlete.
The Mount Sion man was absolutely mesmerising in last Sunday's drawn All-Ireland Hurling semi-final with Kilkenny and he matched that performance level in tonight's replay. The bottom line though is that it's Kilkenny who will be playing their tenth All-Ireland final in 11 years after they beat the Déise by 2-19 to 2-17.
In what was an utterly captivating game of hurling, the 21-year-old once again proved why he's arguably the finest young talent in the game with another memorable performance.
Despite Gleeson's goal, it's Kilkenny though who will be competing against Tipperary or Galway for Liam McCarthy but the Waterford man has only enhanced his reputation as one of the finest hurlers in the game.
Fair to say that Austin Gleeson is the best young Irish sportsperson in any code or sport? Such an outrageous talent. #WATvKK

If you tied Austin Gleeson two hands behind his back he'd still probably catch the ball above his head and drive 60 yards #beast #KKvWAT
