We knew there was a reason we were watching minor league ice hockey

We’ll be honest, we don’t tend to cover minor league ice hockey all that often, so we’re not overly familiar with the current form or work of the Adirondack Phantoms and Portland Pirates from Maine.

What we do know is this: they like to hit each other in the face with the punches and such, and they did exactly that this past Sunday evening when a fight broke out (several times) on the ice with just a few seconds left on the clock.

The referees found themselves unable to control the various scraps that stopped and started in the three minute spell at the end of the game, and with so many violations, they handed out a total of 299 penalty minutes handed out to the lads for all their fisticuffs, according to PennLive.com.

The game ended 2-0 to the Pirates, but we reckon the crowd went home happy after a bit of craic at the end of the match.
