No hockey stick was safe…
In all sports there are coaches and managers who are just a touch volatile and seem to be constantly on the verge of losing it. And when they do, God help anyone within sight.
Lord knows we wouldn’t have liked to have been on the Baie-Comeau Drakkar bench in a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game recently when coach Eric Veilleux absolutely lost the plot after disagreeing with a refereeing decision, prompting him to grab the sticks of virtually every player on the bench and chuck them out onto the ice.
Veilleux was suspended for two games and fined $1,000 for his actions, but that financial penalty doesn’t take into account the cost of the sticks of the players he no doubt broke in what was a quite hilarious fit of rage.
Somehow, we doubt any of the players in question were brave enough to ask him to foot the bill, mind.
