WATCH: Jacob Stockdale’s sensational try that made history as Ireland finally beat the All Blacks at home

Paul Moore

Never going to get tired of watching this.

Jacob Stockdale must have liathroidis of steel because things could have been so very different for the unstoppable Ulster winger in Ireland’s famous 16-9 win over the All Blacks in Dublin.

For the first time in 113 years, Ireland can boast about beating New Zealand at home and the crucial score came in the  48th-minute when Stockdale crossed the whitewash.

This being said, had Kieran Read not knocked-on Stockdale’s earlier dink over the top, things could have been very different.

This being said, things were very different when Sexton switched the ball right to Bundee Aki who in turn fed Stockdale. This time the Ulster winger’s chip was perfect, as was the bounce.

After a pulsating chase, he evaded Aaron Smith and Damian McKenzie to score a superb try.

Then again, we’re very familiar with the sight of Stockdale scoring – that’s his 12th try in 14 Tests – but this could be the sweetest one yet.

After the 40-29 triumph against the world champions in Chicago, the momentum is with Ireland as the World Cup looms ever larger.

Of course, plenty can happen until now and Japan but this a moment to watch again and again and again and again.

And again!
