Facebook has added hashtag support #Sound

JOE

Facebook have continued their changes apace with their latest update, allowing users to post hashtags

The main difference that you’ll see on your NewsFeed will be that tweets and Instagram posts that you or your friends post across to your Facebook will actually make use of the hashtag feature instead of just being text, allowing you to search through other user’s posts on the same topic.

It will be different to Twitter in that you can only see posts from your friends that have the same hashtag rather than from anyone.

Facebook has stated that these hashtags are not up for sale to marketing folks, but we imagine that it’s only a matter of time before that happens.

This latest change at least opens up to more interconnectivity between all your social media profiles (which isn’t something that everyone wants, we admit), but given how many changes they’ve been making recently we’ll wait and see what happens before we declare this one a success.

We certainly don’t know anyone who installed Facebook Home, given that it was totally useless, but this particular change seems like a decent idea to us, hopefully it’s here to stay.
