Irish people are more likely to lie about these two things when online dating

When it comes to online dating, it's a lot easier for someone to conceal information about themselves. It could be the natural colour of their hair, bad habits or their career, but of all the lies that are told online by Irish people, age and weight are the most prominent. According to The Irish Mirror, dating app TrueView discovered that 17% of Irish people lie about their age while 12% lie about their weight. Slightly more worrying is that two-fifths of people said that they ended up going on a date with someone who pretended to be single on the dating app. It also takes Irish people on average 1 minute and 39 seconds to connect with someone online in order to arrange a date which doesn't leave a lot of time for vetting. Matt Verity, co-founder of TrueView said: “People looking for love are finding themselves trudging through conversations with people who aren’t serious about dating, or worse, are lying. This is a huge issue across a number of today’s dating apps. While some may claim to be about finding real relationships, none of them actually protect people from fake profiles, or make any effort to weed out those wanting to use online dating for the wrong reasons."
