Adrian Mutu told he will never play for Romania again after comparing coach to Mr. Bean

To say Adrian Mutu has had a chequered career would be putting things mildly, so to have your international career ended after comparing your coach to Mr. Bean is rather fitting.

To say Adrian Mutu has had a chequered career would be putting things mildly, so to have your international career ended after comparing your coach to Mr. Bean is rather fitting.

The Romanians will play no part in next year’s World Cup after their play-off defeat to Greece and the 34 year-old former Chelsea striker was not best pleased with being left out by Romanian coach Victor Piturca for both legs against the Greeks.

Some players will tweet, others will go straight to the media, but Mutu decided to display all his Photoshopping skills to highlight his displeasure by placing a picture of Piturca, complete with Rowan Atkinson’s head, on his Facebook page, along with the caption “Sure we’ll qualify”.

While Mutu contacted Dolce Sport to say that he only posted the picture to “lighten the atmosphere” and was on “Romanian’s side”, the Romanian FA have not taken it so lightly. They issued a letter informing him that he will not be considered for selection by the national team ever again, even though Mutu has said he would never play under Piturca anyway.

The Ajaccio striker has at times struggled to keep his nose clean and just two years ago was suspended by the Romanian FA after a night on the sauce with Gabriel Tamas while his team-mates were playing San Marino. In his defence, we would argue it was only San Marino.

Adrian Mutu, never a dull moment.
