Reports from Spain suggest that the Real Madrid player could be on his way to The Emirates this January

Arsène Wenger already has his sights set on a few transfers in the January window if what the press in Spain are reporting is to be believed. The Arsenal manager has apparently already been in contact with Real Madrid starlet Álvaro Morata about a move to London, to bolster his squad’s attacking options and maintain their push for the title.

Morata has shown for both Madrid Castilla and the Spanish U21s that he’s got a great eye for goal and blistering pace, with the ability to switch gears when needs be. If you’re an Arsenal fan, then you’ll be pleased to see this compilation of the goals he got at the recent U21 Euros, where he was in flying form.

According to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, the player has recognised that Benzema and Jesé are ahead of him in the pecking order, and that he needs to move to gain some experience and get minutes on the pitch. It seems that Wenger himself has contacted the player and spoken to him about the move, and with a decent Spanish contingent already at The Emirates he should be able to settle in quickly. Morata is believed to be lodging his official request with the Madrid club this week to get permission for the loan.

Morata has just one start this season in his ten appearances so far, but has two goals to his name, so he’s still managed to find the back of the net with Madrid. Both he and Arsenal fans will be hoping he can improve that statistic if he manages to make the move next month.
