Andy Keogh has a Twitter dig at Trapattoni regarding ‘loyalty’

The Millwall striker, who scored at the weekend, is none too pleased to be left out of the Irish squad.

Ahead of two massive World Cup qualifiers this week, Giovanni Trapattoni named a 29-man squad yesterday in Dublin.

The big news was the return of Richard Dunne to the fold, the retention of Paddy Madden and the continued absence of Kevin Doyle.

Not much mention was made of Andy Keogh. The striker, who came on in the recent friendly against Wales and who has been a regular in Irish squads in recent years, was omitted just one day after he scored a vital goal for his club Millwall.

Keogh, normally a very quiet and mild-mannered soul, took to Twitter this morning to voice his unhappiness at being dropped.

With Anthony Pilkington given yet another shot, whatever you think of Keogh’s abilities, he has been very committed to the cause. Football is a harsh business so the question now is will Trap forgive and forget or is Keogh headed down the Andy Reid road?

Thanks to Michael Kehoe for the heads up.
