The La Liga side reveal they've turned down a huge bid from the Premier League giants...

Depending on what newspaper you read, Ander Herrera's transfer from Athletic Bilbao to Manchester United was all but completed. Some suggested the deal had been agreed, other suggested that the midfielder was booked in for a medical and it was widely believed that the deal would be confirmed early next week. However Athletic Bilbao have blown all those reports out of the water today by releasing the following statement: "Athletic want to announce that they have this week rejected an offer from Manchester United, of around 36million euros (£28.85million), for the transfer of the economic and federative rights of the player Ander Herrera." That's it, short and sweet and straight to the point. This doesn't mean that the transfer will not happen. The incoming United coach Louis Van Gaal has reportedly made Herrera a priority signing so it looks like Athletic are playing hard ball. Your move Manchester United.
