Benoit Assou-Ekotto put one angry Arsenal fan in their place on Twitter this week. He did such a good job, the Gunner even changed his mind.
Footballers who are on Twitter do receive a lot of grief from fans. Sometimes it is from their own support but more often than not it is from fans of other teams, who can’t wait to tell them how terrible they are.
We would have thought this might ease off in the closed season but no, it appears to continue, at least at some level.
But with the football being on hold, the players have a bit more time to come up with a great reply and Spurs defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto certainly did that this week.
On Tuesday he received this tweet…

The Arsenal fan came back with this, in which he admits that the Spurs man had played a blinder, before playing the classic ‘Sol Campbell’ card.
