Boy George – Bath out-half with unconventional, and unsuccessful, kick at goals

It was hardly his intention, but Bath out-half George Ford had an unsuccessful goal attempt last weekend that actually did go over the posts.

JOE

It was hardly his intention, but Bath out-half George Ford had an unsuccessful goal attempt last weekend that actually did go over the posts.

The number 10 has been a standout performer for Bath since his summer switch from Leicester and put in another decent shift in the win over London Irish, but will not look back too fondly on this kick at the posts which the home supporters seemed to enjoy.

He shanked the ball and though it dropped short, bounced up onto the crossbar and over.

Obviously the score could not count as anyone who has read the trusty old rule book will be only too familiar with Law 9.A.2., the kick at goal, where it states that if after the ball is kicked, it touches the ground or any team-mate of the kicker, a goal cannot be scored.

Can’t argue with the rules, though he did achieve the objective, putting the ball between the posts.

Hat-tip to Rugby Dump.
