Despite the fact that most of us love to give out about them, Ryanair remain extremely busy and profitable. But the man behind the no-frills airline is constantly trying to find new ways to increase that profit margin, and reducing carry-on is next on his list.

In an interview in the UK Independent, O’Leary explains his latest plans. When asked about the issue of charging for carry-on O’Leary said: “At some point in the future I think it’s likely that airlines will do it”.

One airline called Wizz Air already charges for anything larger than a laptop.

He also confirmed that Ryanair’s planes are flying slightly slower, about two minutes per flight to be exact, to save on fuel, a measure that is estimated to save them £80million (€91.5m).

And, as always, he left them with a killer quote. Asked what other saving he had in mind, O’Leary replied: “As soon as we can think of one, we’ll be implementing it.”
