Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has hinted that he could leave Liverpool amid reported interest from mega-rich French club Paris St. Germain.
Despite an incredibly difficult season dominated by an eight-game ban for alleged racial abuse of Manchester United defender Patrice Evra and the subsequent circus surrounding the ugly affair, the Uruguayan has stood out in what has been a mediocre season for Liverpool, even if he, like the rest of his colleagues, has struggled to hit the back of the net throughout the campaign.
As they have done for numerous big-name players, PSG have already made public overtures about Suarez and suggested they may make a bid in the summer, although Kenny Dalglish has insisted defiantly that he won’t be sold.
The French side hold a trump card in that Suarez’s international teammate and captain Diego Lugano – who steadfastly supported his colleague during the racism row – plays for the club and in comments made to French television station Canal Plus, Suarez said he would “love” to play alongside his compatriot.
“I would love to play at the same club as him (Lugano),” Suarez is reported to have said.
“Yes, I could come to Paris, like lots of other clubs.
"There are lots of big clubs with such a reputation who want to build a strong team and Paris are one of these teams who buy to strengthen their side.”
The link between Suarez and PSG seems tenuous at this early stage, but Liverpool fans will be concerned that after all he's been through in the Premier League this season, Suarez may be heading for the exit door.
After all, it's not only rival supporters that have been on Suarez's back, but a judge actually suggested recently that Suarez was partly to blame for a man losing the plot and hitting his wife with a remote control after seeing him refuse to shake Patrice Evra's hand last month. More on that one here.
