Despite the fact that Craig Doyle Live receives an average of just 77,000 viewers, the host reckons things will pick up after just a few changes.
If you’ve never seen the recently launched chat show then you haven’t missed much, with one of last week’s ‘stars’ including rent-a-gob Kerry Katona. According to Craig, however, it’s that not-so refined choice of guests that is hurting the show's format.
“We’re trying to find out the guests that work,” he told The Irish Sun. “You don’t want to go down the line of just the standard old guests, you want people who are a little bit more quirky.”
“We’re just starting to develop that now,” he added while at a UPC launch yesterday. “That seems to work well when they are a little bit odd.
With the show’s paltry viewership, you’d expect that Craig and his producers would be trying to line up as many oddballs as possible for fear of cancellation yet the host reckons there’s nothing to worry about.
“I’m happy and so are the bosses,” says the 41-year-old. “It’s great, it’s a great show. It’s steady enough for a first series.
“We’re still learning what to change, the good bits and the bad bits.”
Steady on there Craig; if you get rid of the bad bits you’ll only have a five-minute long show…
