The Millwall goalkeeper has been chosen ahead of Shay Given for Ireland’s first European Championships qualifier against Georgia.
David Forde has been chosen by Martin O’Neill to start in goal for Ireland’s European Championships qualifier in Tbilisi against Georgia this evening.
Given started last week’s friendly against Oman but has not managed to usurp Forde, who has impressed for the national side since the Aston Villa goalkeeper announced his retirement after Euro 2012.
The 38-year-old Given recently came out of international retirement but, barring an injury to Forde, his role is set to remain in the background.
David Forde starts in goal for the Republic of Ireland against Georgia. Confirmed.
