The former Manchester United boss is set to have a chat with the cops after a man claimed he was assaulted in a bar.

Only a few hours ago things were looking up for David Moyes as he was being linked with the newly available job at Celtic. But, as has been the way for him for the last 12 months, that good news rapidly evaporated with the arrival of some bad news.

The Mirror are reporting that the Scot is to be quizzed by police in England after an incident in a wine bar. A man claims that he was assaulted by the former Manchester United boss but police were keen to stress that there seems to be different accounts of what happened at the bar near Moyes’ home.

The police statement reads as follows.

“Police are investigating a report of an assault at the Emporium wine bar in Clitheroe.

“Officers attended the bar at about 10pm yesterday (Wednesday, May 21st) and it was reported that a 23 year old local man had been assaulted by a 51 year old man. He did not require hospital treatment.

“Inquiries are ongoing and we are speaking to a number of people to try to establish the circumstances.

“There are a number of differing accounts which we need to work through to try to establish exactly what has happened. No-one has been arrested at this stage.”

The Mirror report says that the 23-year-old was struck on the back of the head and injured his shoulder on the floor.
