A new survey has revealed that Irish people lose €440 million worth of items annually, with most items lost between 2pm and 6pm on a Saturday.

A survey carried out by mozy.ie indicated that the transition from work to weekend and the combination of Saturday lunches, Christmas shopping and Christmas celebrations all add to the disappearance of many items.
We all know the agony of losing a wallet, jacket or phone on a night out and the survey results published in today’s Irish Examiner says that nearly half as many items go missing on Fridays and Saturdays as the rest of the week put together.
The most commonly lost item is the smart phone, which accounts for 40 per cent of all items lost by men and 27 per cent for women.
“Getting carried away and carrying too much were two of the top reasons for losing things, and dashing home from work to get to a seasonal party or bustling back after a day of Christmas shopping are great examples of these,” said Mozy’s Claire Galbois-Alcaix.
Not surprisingly, we are not as persistent with looking for our missing possessions as others. We spend on average a week looking for something we have lost, compared to the Germans, who spend up to four weeks to try to find what is theirs.
