It seemed like a long time in the making, but Gareth Bale finally signed on the dotted line for Real Madrid, and his bank balance is set to swell considerably.

Of course it was the fulfillment of a life dream and the opportunity to compete at the highest level which drew the Welshman to the Bernabeu, but the money isn’t to be sniffed at either.

Reports are suggesting that Bale’s six-year deal is worth £300,000 a week, so needless to say he is unlikely to ever go to an ATM machine only to be greeted by an ‘Insufficient Funds’ message. And one website is putting his riches into perspective.

The What Bale Earns website is breaking down just what Bale can buy since he completed his paperwork at around mid-day today.  Within 10 seconds he had earned his lunch, while just two hours later he had enough money to buy a life-time’s supply of baked beans. Though we’re sure he has a far more sophisticated palette than that.

You can keep up to speed with Bale’s earning power right here.

Hat-tip to Joe Kilduff on Twitter for the heads up.
