The playmaker, top scorer at this summer's World Cup with six goals, has reportedly flown from Medellin to Madrid to discuss terms.
Should he complete the move, Rodriguez is likely to become the fourth most expensive player of all time after Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez.
The best front line in football bar none if he signs: #Benzema #Ronaldo. #Bale #James
