Legia Warsaw post open letter asking Celtic to play match to decide Champions League spot ‘honourably’

Well, you can't blame them for trying...

The Legia Warsaw/Celtic drama took another twist today when the Polish club asked Celtic to play a game to settle who gets a Champions League spot. On Friday, Celtic were awarded the qualification spot to the Champions League after the Poles fielded an ineligible player, nullifying the 6-1 aggregate win that Warsaw earned over the Scottish champions on the pitch. The full letter, signed by Legia co-owner Dariusz Mioduski, is posted below but in it he says that he wants the teams to 'Meet in Warsaw or in Glasgow and let's settle this matter honourably', invoking the great spirit and past deeds of the Glasgow club. We can't see the letter cutting much ice with either Celtic or UEFA but you have to give Legia marks for effort. Warsaw letter 1 Warsaw letter 2
