Irish international Shane Long could be about to join the significant Irish contingent at Hull City with a fee reportedly having been agreed with West Bromwich Albion.

Steve Bruce tried to sign Long in the summer but the Tipp native remained with the Baggies, for whom he was scored just three league goals so far this season, including a brilliant brace in a local derby against Aston Villa at the Hawthorns in November.

Bruce is keen to add to the attacking resources at his disposal and with the arrival of Nikica Jelavic from Everton imminent, Sky Sports are reporting that Hull City have agreed a fee with West Brom for the Irish international.

If the move goes ahead it might not go down well with Long’s many fans amongst the West Brom support, while Long himself had seemed settled at the club, a fact re-iterated by his wife Kayleah, who posted on Twitter last week that Long wasn’t going anywhere.

Hull are currently two points better off than West Brom in the Premier League table and though the Baggies have established a reputation as a solid top flight outfit at this stage, the presence of the likes of David Meyler, Paul McShane and Stephen Quinn will help Long settle at the KC Stadium should he make the move and make things easier for Roy Keane and Martin O’Neill as far as the scouting trips are concerned.
