The future of tech and innovation in Ireland is looking very bright…
AIB selected 12 female and 12 male Irish secondary school students to attend Web Summit in Dublin this week as part of their Hatch youth incubator programme backed by AIB.
This talented bunch of students had a chance to learn coding, tech and social media skills, and they also had a chance to listen to mentors, ask their questions and immerse themselves in the start-up world.
Another task given to the students was to find an Irish start-up that was worthy of the €10,000 prize fund courtesy of AIB. The students narrowed the shortlist down through research and analysis of the numerous brilliant Irish ideas at the Summit and invited their picks along to a final.
Following a big pitch, panel discussion and vote this afternoon, the winner of the fund is Stephen Kehoe of Track-N-Stop.
The app is designed to prevent car theft as its integrated GPS tracking system and specialised remote technology allows you to track your vehicle’s movements on your Smartphone or tablet and to personally disable its engine. It’s so clever.
A huge congrats to Stephen from all of us here in JOE and here is he accepting the cheque from the students taking part in the AIB Hatch Programme.
