The least glamourous kiss-and-tell ever has been pounced upon by the restaurant involved for some viral gold.
In case you missed it, today’s Sun (repeated in the Metro)carried a tale involving Adnan Januzaj, a trip to Nando’s and an unhappy girl. The 18-year-old took Melissa McKenzie out on a first date recently and while Melissa was expecting the Premier League footballer to splash a bit of cash, Adnan was a bit more like a regular teenager.
‘I’ve never met anyone so stingy in my life,’ Melissa told the paper. ‘I was so excited for the first date. We met on a social network site and I got all dressed up and even got my make-up done – costing me £30.
‘I expected him to come to me in a flashy car, but I ended up driving him about in my old blue Fiesta and I was left to pay and display. Then he said he was taking me to Nando’s – my face fell.
‘I usually go there for a quick bite to eat with my mates. I didn’t expect to be going there on a date with a Man United footballer, especially in my dress and heels.’
After the meal, they headed to a hotel where they watched X factor before Adnan requested to be dropped home at 9pm.
Yep, not exactly George Best just yet. Anyway, the smart folks at Nando’s have spotted a chance for some viral marketing and we reckon they have struck gold.
