We know that there are big scores racked up in hurling matches every now and again, but the Trim hurlers must have been really shooting the lights out against Rathmolyon in Meath last night.

According to a report in The Meath Chronicle, Trim prevailed over Rathmolyon on a scoreline of 1-111 – 0-11 to win by 103 points in what was described as ‘a tight game’ in Longwood.

Before anyone jumps the gun and accuses us of throwing stones from a location inside a glass house, it was, of course, just an innocent typo on The Meath Chronicle’s part that just so happened to result in a quite amazing-looking scoreline.

We are, of course, prone to the occasional typo or ten in these pages but we’re sure even the Meath Chronicle will see the funny side of it.

For the sake of a fictional argument, we reckon that Trim would have to score almost two scores a minute to rack up such a scoreline in reality, so expectations will be sky-high when they face Drumree next time out.

Hat-tip to Peter Clancy for sending this one into us
