Pic: Stoke fanzine warns Aaron Ramsey of the hostile reception awaiting him at the Britannia this weekend

Now this seems more than a little harsh…

Arsenal face a tricky-looking away trip to The Britannia Stadium to play Stoke this weekend and, if fit, Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey will return to the scene of one of the worst moments of his career to date.

Four years ago, Ramsey suffered a horrific broken leg as a result of tackle from Ryan Shawcross, an injury which sidelined him for nearly a year and was a major setback for the then 19-year old.

Arsenal and Stoke have never enjoyed the friendliest of relationships in recent years, but having been subjected to boos from parts of the visiting crowd during the meeting between the sides at the Emirates earlier this season, Ramsey made a ‘shush’ gesture to the away crowd after scoring, something, it seems, did not go down well with some Potters fans.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash, Stoke fanzine, The Oatcake, published the picture below, vilifying Ramsey for his gesture and predicting that he would likely be in store for a hostile reception if he takes the field for the Gunners this weekend.

Naturally enough, the notice has received plenty of condemnation on online forums and on social media networks, which would appear to be understandable when you consider that the ‘shush’ celebration happens to be pretty common in football, particularly when a player has to endure abuse from the crowd as Ramsey did from some Potters supporters, although we’re sure not all of them agree with such actions.

You stay classy, Stoke.
