Pic: Sunday Times graphic erases Wexford from the All-Ireland hurling roll of honour
A simple production oversight may not be well received in the sunny south east.
A Saturday evening All-Ireland final poses a number of unusual headaches for a Sunday paper. Yes they are used to all manner of big games at that time of the day but All-Ireland finals require reams of analysis, quotes, player ratings, post-match reactions, pictures and, of course, a large match report.
It’s a lot to cover and the Irish Sunday Times, as always, does it very well. But somewhere in the printing process, a graphic to show that Clare had now moved level with Galway and Offaly on four All-Ireland titles omitted Wexford, erasing their six All-Ireland wins from the record books.
On the day that the Model County’s junior ladies footballers lost an All-Ireland final at the death, it’s another kick in the spot just below their famous yellow bellies.
