This is just pure gold.
Avid readers of local Irish newsletters will know that you could come across anything in them, from a brief report on the local GAA team’s latest match, the winners of last week’s 25 Card Drive (one for rural readers) or a notice about the need to be careful while driving on a certain back road because loose cattle had been spotted wandering freely on it in recent weeks.
Read them often enough and you’ll come across something as brilliant as what Joe Donnelly of the Phantom Breakfast Show with Joe and Keith found in his parish newsletter in Newbridge this morning, namely the caption competition with the smiling priest in the bottom corner. We’d love to see some of the entries to that contest.
Fantastic competition in my local newsletter: pic.twitter.com/4xrSFGL5CS

So good is the competition in fact, that you’d almost ignore the rather excellent drawing of the character Richard Harrow of Boardwalk Empire beside it, another example of something you wouldn’t necessarily expect to find in an Irish newsletter, but it still doesn’t surprise you that it’s there all the same.
Only in Ireland, eh?
