Pic: The laziest TV caption ever appeared during PSV Eindhoven’s Europa League game last night

We know that the Europa League isn’t the most popular of competitions but surely there’s no excuse for this…

It can take a fair bit of convincing to sit down and watch Europa League football of a Thursday night, but if you do commit yourself doing so, the least you would expect of the broadcaster showing the matches is to get simple things like the names of the players right.

As if being sent off during PSV Eindhoven’s clash with Ludogorets Razgrad last night wasn’t bad enough, Dutch international Jeffrey Bruma had to endure the ignominy of a certain TV station not only getting his name wrong but just referring to him as any old so and so…

Maybe the station in question were trying to preserve Bruma’s dignity and lessening his embarrassment by not showing his name after he had been sent off but we highly doubt it and we’re sure the person responsible will be sweating over whether or not they’ll still be in the job this morning.

If you’re not going to do it right, don’t bother doing it at all.
