Pic: The Mayo 4 Sam campaign reaches the World Rally Championship in Australia

JOE

Mayo born co-driver Killian Duffy is spreading the word a long, long way from Croke Park.

We have spoken before about the many other sports that GAA has invaded in recent years. GAA shirts at golf majors and darts tournaments are now a regular occurrence, while we have seen GAA edge its way into the Super Bowl, baseball, Tour de France, snooker and even a Grand Prix this year. Click here if you don’t believe us. Now we can add the World Rally Championship to the list.

The WRC circus is currently in Australia, ahead of next weekend’s Australian rally funnily enough, but just because it is many thousands of miles from Jones’ Road that doesn’t mean the GAA doesn’t matter.

Claremorris man Killian Duffy is the co-driver for Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari and as they prepare to compete this weekend, Duffy has made sure the car, inside and out, is getting the ‘Mayo 4 Sam’ message across.

Quite what his Qatari driver makes of his Ford Fiesta being plastered in such stickers we don’t know but we’re guessing he’s not a Dublin fan anyway.

Speaking of which, any Dublin fans out there, please send us in any images of you guys getting the word out, it is all Mayo coming into our inboxes so far.

Big thanks to James Carty for sending our way.
