Pic: The most capped Champions League side of all-time looks pretty formidable

It would make for one hell of a team, and just take a look at the substitute’s bench.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined an elite club this week after making his 100th Champions League appearance this week, which provided the inspiration for compiling the most-capped team possible from Europe’s premier football competition.

FourFourTwo writer Mohamed Moallim put together the best possible side in a  4-4-2 formation (no, the irony is not lost on us) and it really is a collection of the who’s who of footballers. Remarkably Ryan Giggs is still four games away from Raul’s record of 142 games, but we have no doubt the 63 year-old will get a lot closer before the season is out, and possibly overtake it.

And not only is the team fairly tasty, the bench ain’t too shabby either. David Beckham (107), Victor Valdes (102), Luis Figo (103), Oliver Kahn (103), Ashley Cole (102), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (100) and Andriy Shevchenko (100) take their places among the substitutes.

We doubt Ibra in particular would be pleased to not be in the starting XI, but Messrs Henry and Raul are entitled to the two front spots.
