We always wondered what it would be like if Robbie Keane ever found himself in a scrum, or just how effective Paul O’Connell would be when defending a corner. Come to think of it, we imagine that one of them would be a lot more comfortable than the other in this role swap.

This mad scenario will never happen of course, but the new Irish rugby jersey is so uncannily like the football one that comparisons are bound to be made.

Joe Schmidt’s men will be wearing this getup in the upcoming Autumn Internationals and also in the defence of their Six Nations crown. On first inspection here at JOE HQ, we’re fans.

It seems that the IRFU have been busy over the last few months because the new jersey is now made by Canterbury and features the Three logo, unlike the previous kit which was made by Puma and sponsored by O2.
