Pic: There was a cow in a Moo-naghan jersey at the Monaghan v Galway ladies match today

We know that the Monaghan fans must have been keen to show support for the team but this is milking it just a little. In fact, it’s udderly ridiculous.

We know that the Monaghan fans must have been keen to show support for the team but this is milking it just a little. In fact, it’s udderly ridiculous.

Painting an animal in the county colours or even having them don a county jersey has, for reasons we can’t quite explain, become one of the most popular ways of showing support in the GAA in recent years and while we’ve seen some already, we can expect to see plenty more in the lead up to this year’s All-Ireland Finals.

Normally, however, you don’t see the animals in question being brought along to games, until this afternoon’s clash between Monaghan and Galway ladies at Breffni Park in Cavan, where supporters were greeted with what you’ll see below as they made their way into the ground. We would have thought it was a load of bull ourselves until we stumbled upon this picture from the Ladies GAA account on Twitter.

We don’t think we’ve heifer seen or herd anything like this before, but at least with the jersey on the poor cow won’t be fresian while shouting on the Moo-naghan footballers in their quest to reach the ladies’ decider.

Holy cow indeed.
