Pic: There was some crowd at Yeovil v Wigan at the weekend
James McClean wasn’t there, but according to Sky Sports, loads and loads of other people were.
Normally, a Yeovil home game wouldn’t generate much interest on this side of the Irish Sea. But with Wigan, James McClean’s team, due to play there on Remembrance Weekend, the spotlight shone a little brighter.
In the end, McClean wasn’t there, thanks to a dead leg according to Latics boss Owen Coyle, but it seems a huge amount of others did show up at Huish Park to see the game.
Despite the capacity being just 9,565 (5,212 seated) it seems that a Maracana-esque 101,655 turned up for the game, surely a record for the Championship.
Sadly, the real attendance was 6,149 and they witnessed a 1-0 win for the away team, courtesy of a Marc-Antoine Fortune goal. Yes, Marc-Antoine Fortune plays for Wigan now.
Thanks to Alan Kelly and John Russell for sending it our way.
