Not for the first time, Chelsea went out of their way to ensure that 14-year old Oran Tully from Dublin got to meet his heroes. Fair play to Terry, Mourinho and all involved.

You might remember a video from the tail end of last year from a Sky Sports series titled ‘My Special Day’ an episode of which featured Oran Tully – a teenager from Skerries who has suffered with a rare bowel condition from an early age – meeting Jose Mourinho and a number of Chelsea players, taking in a Champions League clash and even coaxing Roman Abramovich into speaking on camera, quite the achievement indeed.

Football-mad and bubbling with personality, Oran made an impression on everyone he encountered and the episode made for heart-warming viewing for anyone who caught it around Christmas time last year.

Today, Oran was back amongst his heroes, having paid them a visit ahead of their clash with Vitesse Arnhem in Holland, where he posed for a photo with manager Jose Mourinho and captain John Terry, who posted it to his Instagram page alongside a link to the episode of ‘My Special Day’ featuring Oran, which has garnered well over 800,000 YouTube views to date.

Mourinho and in particular Terry have got some bad press over the years so it’s only right that they’re given credit where it’s due and fair play to them for making the day of a young Irish Chelsea fan all over again.

Nice touch.
