We thought we’d seen the last of the pictures of our fair isle from space when Chris Hadfield announced he was retiring, but there’s a new pretender to his throne
Astronaut Luca Parmitiano of Italy is up in the International Space Station and has been tweeting out some fantastic images for us to enjoy, none more so than this picture of Ireland taken on a day when we actually had some great weather.
With no clouds to obscure the view, we can see a very impressive image of the west coast of Ireland around South Kerry and West Cork, and sure doesn’t it look very well altogether when the sun is shining?
Perhaps just as impressive was Jamie Lawrence’s response, who tweeted this beautiful picture of the weather from ground level along that very coastline yesterday. Not bad, not bad at all.
@astro_luca this is what that 4mile spit of sand (Inch Strand) in the top-right looks like from the ground: pic.twitter.com/vWVEP2dBzv

We’re not ridiculously jealous seeing as we’re stuck in the office today either, not in the least.
Hat-tip to NASA for the main pic
