Look out for international approval standards mark on a new lagging jacket before buying it. You don’t want to walk off with something shoddy.

Another way to save a few pennies in the hot press alone is to insulate the heating pipes that run through it.
Once you have your boiler sorted you should try to maintain it as best as possible. You can always install a count-down timer for occasional hot water requirements. These require just a simple push of a button to start heating the water. Simples.
