This week’s up and coming Irish star who's ready to burst onto the scene is Dublin-born director Ruairi Robinson. The 35 year old has already been nominated for an Oscar so he’s clearly a much better human than a lot of people.

Check out his excellent Oscar-nominated short, Fifty Percent Grey here. Disclaimer - nothing to do with Fifty Shades of Grey.
The director also plied his trade making short ads, most of which you can view here on his Vimeo page. Put aside an afternoon though because watching his videos can be highly addictive.
JOE’s personal favourite has to be the particular one below which combines two of our favourite things, cheese and a monster clearly influenced by Bong Joon-ho’s 2006 film, The Host.
But mostly we like the cheese.
The director also worked with some of the top Irish acting talent over the last number of years, most notably Cillian Murphy when making the short, The Silent City. Check it out here:
Up next is his exciting feature film debut, the science-fiction thriller Last Days on Mars which is scheduled for release in September of this year. The film stars Liev Schreiber and Olivia Williams, who can be seen below chatting about her filming experience with the man himself alongside her.
The two of them were in Cannes this week to promote the film and to work on getting a sexy tan:
JOE will keep you up to date on all thing Ruairi Robinson related including more information on Last Days on Mars closer to it’s release.
