Roy Keane could be set to return to football once again and this time it will be as Martin O’Neill’s second in command in charge of the Irish football team.

Earlier today we brought you the news that Martin O’Neill is edging ever closer to becoming Giovanni Trapattoni’s successor as Ireland manager and according to tomorrow’s back page of the Mirror and the Indo’s Dan McDonnell, Roy Keane is set to become O’Neill’s no.2.

While a deal has yet to be officially struck, reports say that former Aston Villa and Sunderland manager O’Neill wants to keep the Corkman by his side.

Recently, David Beckham said Keane was one of the ‘best captains’ he ever played under, but many thought he would never work for the FAI after the Saipan fall out. Guess we could be in for a surprise.
