It is Billo’s last tournament, so RTE have lined up a few new faces to join the great man during Brazil 2014.

While there was a bit of a fandango over Roy Keane skipping out on ITV’s coverage, all of RTE’s big names were present and correct for the launch of their World Cup coverage today.

Posing with Brazilian shirts with their names changed in Brazilian-ish style (O’Donoghuandra) the usual faces of Dunphy, Giles, Sadlier and Whelan will all be our companions for the next few weeks.

Less regular visitors to Irish TV will also be involved. Popular ex-Liverpool and German midfielder Didi Hamann is back in the harness, as is Ossie Ardiles, but there are a few brand new names too.

The biggest is the signing of former USA keeper Brad Friedel, a very likeable, and knowledgeable pro with a very long career to his name. His views should be interesting. Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon will also be popping up and we can’t wait to see what Paul Clement, Carlo Ancelotti’s No 2 at Real Madrid, will have to say, especially about Ronaldo.

Apres Match is also back and, in a stroke of genius, they will be doing the entire Third Place Play-off game once again.
