The centre-half took to Twitter to voice his displeasure over the surface at the Aviva before quickly deleting his comment before MonKeano had a chance to see it.
The playing surface is in the middle of a busy schedule at the moment and with the Autumn internationals already underway, it seems to be getting plenty of wear and tear. Music concerts have also played their part and you will notice a different shade of green at the South Stand side of the Aviva, and St. Ledger was quick to point of what he felt were shortcomings of the playing surface tonight.
While in theory it may impress Keane in particular to demand the highest standards, using social media to air his grievances many not have been the best tactic. Martin O’Neill has been sceptical in the past of players using Twitter, though James McClean was causing quite a stir at the time and may have left a lasting impression of the medium. The Irish international quickly came to his senses, or was advised wisely, and deleted the tweet.
As has been pointed out by several people, the pitch may not be at its best, but that shouldn’t restrict the players too much against Latvia tomorrow night.
Didn’t stop Drogheda and Sligo serving up a great FAI Cup final RT @seanstledger12: Aviva stadium pitch is in bits.

While we hope the game isn’t as close as the FAI Cup Final, we wouldn’t sniff at five goals. Five Irish goals of course.
