Napoli and Slovakia midfielder Marek Hamsik has admitted it would be difficult to turn down a move to Manchester United.
The 23-year old creative midfielder has acquired a reputation as one of the most promising talents in Europe in recent years following his displays for Napoli and for the Slovakian national side, who he captained at the World Cup this summer.
Hamsik was the subject of interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid in the summer, but turned down moves to both clubs and signed a new five-year deal with the Naples club instead.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for a number of midfielders in recent months, due to the fact that ageing veterans Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are edging ever closer to retirement.
Also, following Wayne Rooney’s recent decision to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, there has been speculation that Sir Alex Ferguson will be given substantial funds to spend in January or next summer to quell worries about the ambition of the club, which Rooney had expressed concerns about before deciding to commit for another five years.
Asked about rumours linking him with a move to the Red Devils, Hamsik said: “These are nice sounds. It would be difficult to say no to Manchester United.â€
Hamsik has scored 33 goals in 114 appearances for Napoli since joining the club in 2007 and has scored 8 goals in 41 appearances for Slovakia since making his debut in the same year.
