The deal also includes rights to show the U21’s and women’s team…

Everyone at JOE Towers was quite pleased to hear the news that the FAI have reached an agreement with Setanta Sports to show all of Ireland’s home friendlies for the next four years.

Under the agreement, Setanta will have exclusive broadcast rights in the Republic of Ireland for our home friendly matches until 2018, starting with next Wednesday’s clash against Oman.

Other games on the coming calendar include the visit of the USA in November and the much anticipated clash against England in June.

If you wanted even more good news then the contract also means that the Irish broadcaster will show 16 live senior women’s and U21’s matches over the next four years.

The addition of U21’s is a fantastic one since it’s tough to get a good look at the next crop of emerging Irish talent due to the obstacles that they face at their clubs.

JOE has already started plotting Ireland’s path to Euro ’16 already and if you need a reminder of the last time that we faced Oman then take a look here.
