A deal has reportedly been struck between Shamrock Rovers and Aston Villa to make a dream move to the Premier League come through for Ireland U-21 international left-back Enda Stevens.
Rovers fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief, however, as the 21-year-old will not make the switch to the big boys until January.
A fee of €250,000 is believed to have been settled on between the two clubs for his services but the good news is that Stevens will be with the Hoops for their Europa League group stage campaign, which will see them face Tottenham, POAK Salonika and Rubin Kazan.
Stevens usually plays as a left back but has also played in the heart of the defence for Rovers.
The Dublin lad has previously gone on trial to Nottingham Forest, Hull City, Stockport County and Yeovil Town before eventually signing for UCD in 2008.
He only played two games for the Students before moving on to St Pat’s and then joined Rovers at start of last season.
