After two security alerts in Dublin and Kildare last night, the Gardai were this morning investigating a suspect package at the Blackhorse Luas stop near Inchicore, Dublin.
Last night, a controlled explosion was carried out near the Glenroyal Hotel in Maynooth after an improvised explosive device (IED) was found in the luggage compartment of a private bus travelling from Ballina in County Mayo.
The bus was evacuated and the device was made safe at approximately 2am this morning.
The Army Bomb Disposal Team also investigated a suspect package in the Summerhill area of Dublin last night, but it was subsequently found to be a hoax.
Yet another suspect package was found at the Blackhorse Luas Stop near Inchicore in Dublin and is currently being investigated by the Army Bomb Disposal Team.
Commuters can expect delays to the Luas Red Line services as a result on a day that is likely to be a chaotic one for people travelling in and out of Dublin city due to the arrival of Queen Elizabeth II later this afternoon.
