London – Gordon Murray Design has unveiled what has been dubbed the ‘world’s most eco friendly electric-car’ at an event held at the RAC on London’s Pall Mall.

The latest in ultra compact city vehicle design was funded by a £9million project. No recession over in the UK then. The vehicle, named the T.27, has been in the works for the past 17 months and boasts some pretty amazing stats.

T.27

It has a projected top speed of 105 km/h and it is hoped that the car will reach 100 km/h in under 15 seconds. Some of the stats and facts are only projections, like the numbers above but we can’t wait to see what this little thing can do.

The car could easily rival the Smart car for size weighing in at 680kg (incl. battery), 1.3 metres wide, 1.6 meters high and 2.5 meters long. The lithium ion battery pumps put 12 kw/h and can produce a range of 100 miles on a full charge.

The car costs only 50p per 100 miles compared to around 14 quid for a normal petrol car over the same distance. At 2.5 metres long the car can park head on in a car parking space, meaning three can fit into a single space. This reduces the congestion caused by road users crawling around looking for a spot.

The coolest feature that could possibly get old quick is the ‘fighter jet style’ door. The front windscreen and half of the roof separate from the car and can be pushed forward allowing access to the rear seats. Pretty cool if your 11, or if you’re a man.

The car is to have its public road debut in November and three big name manufacturers are in talks about producing the car. No mention of who, as of yet, but we hope Bugatti get on board before it’s too late.
